The Child Dental Benefits Schedule will continue in 2017

The Australian Dental Association (ADA) has applauded announcement by the Turnbull Government and its Health Minister, Greg Hunt, to reinstate the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) cap to $1,000.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a dental benefits programme. Eligible children or teenagers can receive up to $1000 in benefits for dental services over two consecutive calendar years.
If your child or teenager doesn’t use the full $1000 for dental services in the first year, they can use the balance in the second year if they’re still eligible.
- Aged 2 to 17 years for at least 1 day of the calendar year
- Are eligible for Medicare, and
- Are part of a family that receives Family Tax Benefit Part A or the child receives an Australian Government payment from the list available at humanservices.gov.au/childdental
Your child’s eligibility will be determined each calendar year.
You can check your child’s eligibility and balance through your Medicare online account at my.gov.au or by calling 132 011
Services available include :
- Fissure sealing
- Root canals
- Orthodontic services, cosmetic dental work and services provided in a hospital are not covered.
Accessing the Child Dental Benefits Schedule
Once you know your child is eligible, make an appointment with us and let us know that you’ll be using the CDBS.
Dr. Sachdeva will discuss with you your child’s proposed treatment. You will be asked to sign a consent form. Remember to take your child’s Medicare card to the appointment.
Dr. Sachdeva has decided to bulk bill patients that are eligible under the Child Dental Benefits Scheme.
