If your dental insurance plan, like the majority of them, is based on the calendar year, it’s time for you to get busy maximising the dental benefits you still have available in 2019.
You have a few days remaining to max out your dental insurance benefits. Anything you’ve left unspent will go away on January 1st.
When a new year begins, your deductible is reset, and you begin paying again. Of course, you have a lot to do before now and the year’s end, but throwing money away is NOT on anybody’s to-do list.
With that in mind, Dr Sachdeva’s dental clinic suggests you take a look at your remaining insurance benefits and max them out!
Here are some reasons to use your dental insurance before the year ends:
1. Yearly Maximum
The yearly maximum is the largest amount of money that a dental insurance plan will pay for your dental work within one full year.
This amount varies by the insurance company, but the average is $800 per year, per person.
The yearly maximum usually renews every year (every January 1st if your plan is based on a calendar year). If you have unused dental benefits, they will not roll over to the next year.
2. Premiums
If you are paying premium dental insurance every month, you should be using your benefits.
Even if you don’t need any treatment, you should always have your regular dental scale and clean to help prevent and detect any early signs of cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, or other dental issues.
3. Fee Increases
Another reason to use your benefits before the year ends is possible fee increases.
Some dentists increase their rates at the start of the year due to the increased cost of living, materials and equipment. When a dentist’s costs go up, likely, so do your dental costs.
4. Dental Problems Can Worsen
By delaying dental treatment, you are risking more extensive and expensive treatment in the future.
What may be simple tooth decay at the moment, could become a root canal problem later. Call your Wantirna South dentist and schedule an appointment to use those benefits.
Dental Insurance: Use It or Lose It!
Many insurance plans come with deductibles and other stipulations that share the cost of dental care with you.
However, the arrival of the year’s end gives you a great opportunity to shift the bulk of dental expenses on to your insurance provider.
To get the most value out of the dental benefits you have earned, learn why it is best to schedule a dental appointment before the New Year.
